How To Set up your own VPN network

Well hi everyone!!!

This post is all about creating yor own VPN(Virtual Private Network)

What is VPN????

A virtual private network (VPN) extends a private network across public networks like the Internet. It enables a host computer to send and receive data across shared or public networks as if they were an integral part of the private network with all the functionality, security and management policies of the private network.[1] This is done by establishing a virtual point-to-point connection through the use of dedicated connections, encryption, or a combination of the two.

The VPN connection across the Internet is technically a wide area network (WAN) link between the sites. From a user perspective, the extended network resources are accessed in the same way as resources available from the private network—hence the name "virtual private network".[2](as on wikipedia)

The idea is to create a private network shared only by the systems shared virtually. A VPN is ideal for any organisation that want to give private access to it's employees.

The best part is that you can use servers from different countries and change your i.p address to another country. It ensures a level of anonymity. To ensure maximum privacy you can check for DNS LEAKS at dnsleaktest.com

How to set up a VPN account???

 1. Click the Start button. In the search bar, type VPN and then select Set up a virtual private network (VPN) connection.

2 Enter the IP address or domain name of the server to which you want to connect. You can search a host of free vPN servers on the net.

3 On this next screen, you can either put in your username and password(or the provided by the VPN provider). Click Connect.

4 Wait untill the connection is established.

5 To connect, click on the Windows network logo on the lower-right part of your screen; then select Connect under VPN Connection.

How to build an incoming VPN connection.

Step 1 Click the Start button, and, in the search bar, type Network and Sharing.

Step 2 Click Change Adapter Settings in the left-hand menu.

Step 3 Click File(alt+f), and then New Incoming Connection.

Step 4 Select the users you'd like to give access to and click Next.

Step 5 Click Through the Internet or through dial up if you use a dial up connection viz usb modem and select Next.

Step 6 Select the Internet Protocol you'd like to use.

Step 7 Finally, click Allow access; you've now set up an incoming VPN connection.

Troubleshooting

If you can't connect, the problem could be due to the server configuration. (There are different types of VPN.) Check with your network administrator to see what kind is in use--such as PPTP--then, on the Connect VPN Connection screen, select Properties.

Navigate to the Security tab and select the specific Type of VPN from the drop-down list. You may also have to unselect Include Windows logon domain under the Options tab. Then click OK and Connect.
